Craft box completed

I have recently finished the large craftwork box.  After making sure that everything fitted just right, I assembled the box  - never an easy process! Then came the sanding,  working through an ever finer series of grits to give a lovely smooth finish.
I then applied two coats of Danish oil which was allowed to cure for ten days before the final two coats of wax polish to add that silky feel.  The finished work box is a good size with plenty of storage space over two levels.

A Different Type of Box

I was asked by our neighbour, Angela, to be involved in a local project to build Book Swap boxes.

This is a very popular idea in most of the states across the USA and she thought it would be ideal for our community.

Boxes are set up around the community for locals to leave books they have finished reading and collect a new read from the selection available.

I created this design for our project, combining practicality and looks.  It will be placed on posts on our road for us all to use.  there will be 4 boxes in total throughout the village.

The Wairau Valley Book Swap Project will be launched on 21st March.
