Midnight Sun now residing in The Hague
In January, I had a very nice couple from the Netherlands visit my workshop; they were touring round New Zealand.  As they were both interested in fine furniture and wooden boxes,  we had a good chat about cabinet making, box design and construction.
Thank you Ronald and Renuke for deciding to purchase two of my boxes to take back with you to your homes in the Netherlands.

A Time to Mill

As the days grow cooler, it's time to split some of the logs that have been drying in the shade through the summer.  I am very fortunate to have thoughtful friends and neighbours who are willing to let me rescue interesting woods that come down on their properties.
This year, there are some cherry logs which were kindly given to me by the owners of our local naturist park.  The tree was damaged in a storm and had to come down.  A similar thing happened on a friend's farm, just up the valley to what I think was a Black Walnut tree.  Two large branches came down and they thought of me!  Finally I have some olive trunks from trees that were being taken out down the valley.  I approached the owners and they were more than happy to let me have a few samples to work with.
