Working on a Box ... Eastern Sun (The Final Instalment)

​The box lid is attached with hinges made from brass tube and brass rod. The top of the box has a final sand and is given two coats of Danish-Oil before it is fitted.

​​After measuring the required length of the hinge, it is cut to length and tapped into the box sides and lid.



​​Walnut dowels are made to plug the small holes in the box sides.

​​Walnut dowels are glued and tapped into the hinge holes on both sides of the box.


​​After cutting and planing flush the Walnut plugs, the rest of the box has a final sand, is cleaned and given two coats of Danish-Oil.  The box is then put to one side for ten days for the finish to fully cure.
