The box lid is attached with hinges made from brass tube and brass rod. The top of the box has a final sand and is given two coats of Danish-Oil before it is fitted.
After measuring the required length of the hinge, it is cut to length and tapped into the box sides and lid.
Walnut dowels are made to plug the small holes in the box sides.
Walnut dowels are glued and tapped into the hinge holes on both sides of the box.
After cutting and planing flush the Walnut plugs, the rest of the box has a final sand, is cleaned and given two coats of Danish-Oil. The box is then put to one side for ten days for the finish to fully cure.
